People ask us this more than anything else, usually in the same breath as "how much will it be?".
The difference. A regular clean keeps a home at the standard it's already at, week after week. A deep clean brings a home up to that standard first, and takes two to four times as long. If your home is already kept on top of and you want one thing done thoroughly, that's a regular clean plus time, at the regular rate.
What a regular clean covers
A weekly or fortnightly visit of fixed hours, worked in four passes from the top of the house down. It's the same standard in every home we look after, and the full standard is on our home page. Your own priorities sit on top of it, set at the home visit and carried on your cleaner's checklist.
What a deep clean adds
A deep clean covers the same ground, then goes further in every room, after the dirt that builds up over months and the corners a weekly visit never reaches.
- Doors and woodwork. Every door washed on both sides, with the handles, frames, switches and sockets
- Skirtings and radiators. Washed rather than dusted
- Bathrooms descaled. Screens, tiles, taps and shower heads treated for limescale, tiles and grout scrubbed, toilets cleaned under the rim and behind
- Kitchen fronts degreased. Cupboard doors, drawer fronts, handles, splashback, extractor hood and the tops of the cupboards
- Floors to the edges. Into the corners and under furniture where the hoover reaches, then mopped
- The bits nobody sees. Door tracks, vents and grilles cleared, cobwebs down, light fittings and the tops of tall furniture dusted
Each room is done top to bottom, dry before wet, floors last.
What sits outside it unless you ask
Some firms fold the oven and fridge into every deep clean. We price these as extra time at the same rate, so you only pay for the ones you want. Say which you'd like at the home visit and they go on the plan. The list of what's agreed as an extra is on our home page; the ones people ask about most are below.
- Inside the oven. Around an hour and a half for a standard oven, longer for a double oven or a range
- Inside the windows, and inside the fridge, freezer and dishwasher
- Inside cupboards and wardrobes. Emptied, washed and put back
- Walls and paintwork. A mark that comes off with a cloth gets wiped. Scrubbing paintwork damages it, so walls are a decorating job
- Carpets shampooed, upholstery, and windows outside. Specialist work, and we'll point you at someone
How we do a reset
A home that needs bringing up gets it over the first two or three visits of a regular booking, at the regular rate. We agree longer hours for those visits at your home visit, with a room list that burns down week by week, and the hours step back to your standing figure once the list is clear.
It works better for you as well as for us. Week two picks up anything week one missed, and the house gets clean with the cleaner you're keeping. If a room needs more time than we allowed, it goes on the list for the next visit rather than running over on the day.
If a one-off is all you want, we'll say so at the visit and give you a specialist's name.
What it costs
£25 an hour, at one rate, with a 90-minute minimum visit (2 hours for a fortnightly clean). £20 to your cleaner, £5 to us. The first visits run longer and are priced exactly the same way as every other visit. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
